This painting, depicting the vision of St George on Horseback, was the artist’s introductory piece to Malta. It is recognised amongst the best Neapolitan Baroque works then painted in Italy at that time.

What is more, the alignment of the digital reproduction is in portrait formāts and has a side ratio of 3 : 4, which means that the length is 25% shorter than the width. Mattia Preti was a artist, painter from Italy, whose style was mainly Baroque. The Italian painter lived for a total of 86 years - born in the year 1613 in Taverna, Catanzaro province, Calabria, Italy and died in 1699.
