This presentation is the work of Franz Eybl a special feature. The painter who otherwise dealt with the human face, whether as portrait or as einfiguriges genre picture, chose here an unusual subject. He described the interior of a smithy with all the details and created quite an impressive and evocative view of a documentary claim. Strikingly, however, is that there is no smoke-blackened walls above the fireplaces and the blacksmith can not be seen in his work.
