Artwork description as provided by The Metropolitan Museum of Art (© - by The Metropolitan Museum of Art - Metropolitēna mākslas muzejs)
Bourdon’s rigorously structured classical landscapes, such as this one, were modeled on those of Nicolas Poussin. In this landscape the painter quoted ancient and contemporary works of art. The statue of a horse at the left is a direct citation of one of the statues of the Dioscuri on top of the Quirinal Hill in Rome. The dancers at the right, instead, derive from Poussin’s Bacchanal (now in the National Gallery, London).

Juridiskā atruna: We try whatever we can in order to depict the products as closely as possible and to illustrate them visually. Still, the pigments of the print products and the printing may diverge marginally from the presentation on your screen. Depending on your screen settings and the nature of the surface, not all colors will be printed as exactly as the digital version shown here. Because our are printed and processed manually, there may as well be slight deviations in the motif's size and exact position.
